| Gravesite locations of Civil War Veterans |
| My reasons for doing this are twofold: first; these are the people who sacrificed all to make this country what it is today. And now, with none left with us, even their graves are showing signs of fading away. So, I do this in the hope of keeping the memory of that monumental conflict, and those who took part in it, alive. We need to remember the accomplishments which were achieved because of those sacrifices. Secondly; in an effort to assist those genealogists who may have traced a distant relative to the battlefields of the Civil War only to lose track at that point, I hope this listing will somehow help a person or two find that lost ancestor. |
| Unfortunatly, there are some markers that have already reached the point of weatherworn beyond readability. Also, being human, I cannot guarantee that I have accounted for all the gravesites within a cemetery, but I have tried. I have used only the gravesites which I can verify hold the remains of a veteran. Whomever is responsible for putting the metal markers at the gravesites has made far to many errors for this to be proof enough. So, to the decendent families of those I miss, I apologize. |
| The soldier names are alphabetized and include all information I could gather from their gravesites, including both government and family markers. The cemeteries are coded with two letters and two numbers (i.e. AA00) and listed, with directions, on a seperate page.
